Silence is one of the most elementary and most sensual experiences man is able to undergo. The two- and three-dimensional visualizations reflected the temporal and spatial course of the acoustic movements and opened up a dialogue between sound, structure, line, surface, and space. It is on from Novemto Jat the Museum fr Kommunikation in Bern (Switzerland). Binaural recording works on a pretty simple principle: if we can record an audio source under the same conditions as someone who’s listening to it, then we can achieve an incredibly realistic 3D effect over stereo. The piece was created using binaural recordings that were captured on Stetson. The magic all lies in our two human ears. Binaural recording creates a realistic spatial impression via headphone replay. Binaural recording is a method of recording sound that uses two microphones, arranged with the intent to create a 3-D stereo sound sensation for the listener of actually being in the room with the performers or instruments. The special feature of the album is that it has been recorded with binaural recording technique. The art world has joined the trend, too, using immersive audio to enhance museum exhibitions with soundscapes to meet audiences growing demand for sensorily immersive experiences. In cooperation with designer and perfomance artist Charlotte Triebus, KISD students developed individual approaches in order to transform music tracks of the CD production “Seven Spaces“ by sound engineer Patrick Leuchter into spatial installations and thereby new contextualization. On January 28, 2016, KISD – Köln International School of Design hosted the vernissage of the exhibition “Seven Spaces“ – a presentation of exhibits and samples that experiment with music and two- and three-dimensional visualization and its correlation.
